Flower - Amos Lee

My heart is a flower
That blooms every hour
I believe in the power
Of love

Well in this lonesome meadow
Well it’s soft as a pillow
Oh I pray that we’ll go back
To Love

I’m going to reach on up over that fear
I’m never alone won’t you please be near
I know that darkness before the dawn
Tomorrow’s coming and yesterday’s gone

I’m going to get my baby,
Get up stream
Fall asleep in her arms
And drift away in a dream

Gonna go out walking in the morning light
Well I know that my tomorrow’s gonna be alright
Gonna be alright

Well I never shall wither
Well of course I forgive her
Oh please Lord deliver me
To love

I’m going to reach on up over that fear
I’m never alone won’t you please be near
I know that darkness before the dawn
Tomorrow’s coming and yesterday’s gone

I’m going to get my baby,
Get up stream
Fall asleep in her arms
And drift away in a dream

Gonna go out walking in the morning light
Well I know that my tomorrow’s gonna be alright
Gonna be alright
Gonna be alright
Gonna be alright

Yeah
My heart is a flower
That blooms every hour
I believe in the power
I believer in the power
Of love, love…of love

I met up with an old friend last night. We have a lot of history, but haven’t seen each other in over four years. It was a strange experience, but like I said earlier there are some people where you can just pick up where you left off. Usually I would say this is a great thing, but what if it’s not? In our case picking up where we left off would have just made things more complicated. We talked a lot about living in the past, especially with friends that become your “remember when” friends, and I personally get annoyed only talking about memories that I can vaguely remember, but last night I enjoyed being that innocent girl again in a basement I spent so many nights in years ago.

While we were getting to know each other again, we listened to some music. I have listened to Amos Lee for many years, but have yet to hear his newest album, Mission Bell. I forgot how much I love his voice. Another group that he showed me was Gypsyfoot. I definitely need to hear more, but I love what I hear so far. I love finding new music.

I learned a lot about myself last night. I am content with the person I have become over the years, but I want to make more of an effort to stay in touch with the people I care about. Thank you C for a new memory and for new music.
